  APPELLATE & HUMAN RIGHTS

Human Rights law forms an integral part of all areas of Chambers’ expertise.
Members have undertaken a variety of work; from everyday issues arising in domestic criminal courts to the more specialised in international and the higher domestic courts.

Historically, Chambers has been heavily involved in protest cases stemming from the Miners’ strike, poll tax riots, Greenham Common, Shoreham live exports, animal rights, anti-arms trade movement and Fathers4Justice.

Recent work has included points taken in the European Court, judicial reviews and stated cases and arguments on points such as the legality or otherwise of the Iraq war, the use of cluster bombs in Fallujah and the DEFRA badger cull.

Members of Chambers also specialise in work defending the right to freedom of expression.

Chambers maintains a presence in Trinidad and Tobago where death row work is regularly undertaken.
