PRIMARY AREAS OF EXPERTISE PROSECUTION WORK A number of members prosecute on behalf of the S.F.O. and Complex Crime units. We regularly advise and prosecute in high profile Crime. We conduct Customs and Health & Safety prosecutions. Other professional clients include all the public Prosecution authorities, Government departments and legal departments of Local Authorities. We also regularly receive Direct Professional Instructions. DEFENCE WORK Defence expertise is broadly based ranging from serious fraud, offences against the person and property, sexual offences and drugs offences to the often complex, related matters of confiscation of the proceeds of crime and money laundering offences. Members of chambers are frequently instructed in defence cases where the allegations are sensitive and/or high profile. We are instructed on behalf of various professional bodies to represent their members and are familiar with the demands made of defence advocates by clients. High profile cases include, Stansted Airport Highjacking, Michael Stone - Chillingden Murders. FRAUD WORK Chambers has experience in acting on behalf of individuals and companies accused of fraud. Members are regularly instructed prior to charge and advise at the investigatory stages on such matters as the seizure of privileged material, legality of search warrants, the approach to be taken upon receipt of orders issued under Sec 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 1987, and the tactics to be deployed pre-charge. Members of Chambers have been instructed in many of the leading fraud trials of the last ten years including, Wickes plc, Joyti De Laurey (Goldman Sachs Fraud) We prosecute for the S.F.O. We defend in such cases, and act in Inland Revenue, D.T.I. and Customs and Excise frauds. |
