SUMMARY OF PRACTICE AREAS

Christina has experience of defending in the Crown, Magistrates', and Youth Courts. She represents Defendants charged with a range of offences including violence, offensive weapons, drugs, robbery, burglary, theft and road traffic. Christina has a particular interest in youth justice and representing vulnerable defendants.

Prior to completing her pupillage in April 2018, Christina spent 8 years working in international protection, human rights and extradition. She has previously worked for the United Nations in Cyprus as well as for a specialist, leading, immigration and extradition law firm in London, where she qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales. 

CASES OF NOTE

  • R v J Croydon Crown Court (2019) Acted as junior counsel in a four-week trial successfully defending against allegations of kidnap, false imprisonment, blackmail and GBH.

  • R v N Isleworth Crown Court (2019) Represented a 20-year-old accused of conveying drugs into prison and possession with intent to supply Class A.

  • R v S Southampton Youth Court (2019) Succeeded in defending a 17-year-old facing 4 charges of drug dealing relying on the defence of Modern Slavery, the Crown eventually discontinued the charges.

  • R v D Wood Green Crown Court (2018) Successful defence of a man charged with burglary on the basis of an eyewitness and DNA evidence at the scene.

  • R v P Snaresbrook Crown Court (2018) Successful defence of a man charged with ABH following an altercation in a bank which was caught on CCTV.

  • R v C Chelmsford Crown Court (2018) Successful defence of a man charged as part of a group with credit card fraud.

  • R v S Snaresbrook Crown Court (2018) Represented a man who was accused of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and successfully argued for a non-custodial sentence.

  • R v P Colchester Youth Court (2018) Succeeded in defending a 17-year-old facing charges of drug dealing relying on the defence of Modern Slavery, the Crown eventually discontinued the charges.

  • R v M Bromley Youth Court (2018) Successfully defended a 12-year-old boy charged with robbery in a case which involved the cross examination of vulnerable witnesses.

  • R v H Chelmsford Youth Court (2018) Successfully persuaded the Crown to drop two charges of possession of an offensive weapon against a 17-year-old on two separate occasions.

  • R v M Medway Youth Court (2018) Successfully argued for a charge of assault against a 14-year-old boy to be diverted out of court and dealt with by way of a youth caution.

  • R v L Bexley Magistrates Court (2018) Successfully defended a man charged with three separate assaults on his partner.

  • R v D Bexley Magistrates Court (2018) Successfully defended a man charged with two assaults on police officers.

  • R v F Westminster Magistrates Court (2017) Successfully argued for a charge of assault against a 19-year-old to be diverted out of court and dealt with by way of a caution.

  • R v P Highbury Youth Court (2017) Successfully argued for a charge of shoplifting and going equipped against a 17-year-old boy with previous convictions to be diverted out of court and dealt with by way of a caution.
