Prosecution offer no evidence in Chelmsford 'throat slashing' trial. The defendant was represented by Jan Hayne

The prosecution applied to read the complainant's statement to the jury, after he twice failed to attend a secret live link location.

The prosecution application was made under s116(2)(e) of the Criminal Justice Act 2003. The complainant claimed to have received several threats to kill him and his mother. However, following cross-examination of the officer in the case, the judge ruled that he could not be sure the victim was in fear. The prosecution application was refused, and the prosecution offered no evidence.
